What is a Full Biomechanical Check-up?
A Biomechanical Check-up is a thorough examination of your body’s mechanical function, including assessment of posture, mobility, joint flexibility, muscle strength, and balance. Our specialized osteopathic practitioners utilize a holistic, patient-centered approach to evaluate how your body parts move and interact in tandem – the way you walk, sit, stand, or perform specific activities.
Why Should You Consider a Biomechanical Check-up?
Every person has a unique physical structure and movement pattern. Understanding these individual intricacies is key to optimizing health, preventing injuries, and improving overall quality of life. Our Biomechanical Check-up aims to identify any abnormalities, imbalances, or stressors that might lead to pain or discomfort, and can be of particular benefit if you’re involved in sports, have a physically demanding job, or are recovering from an injury. However, this isn’t exclusive to these circumstances – anyone can gain from a greater understanding of their body’s biomechanics
What does the M.O.T Process include?
A full biomechanical is included in the M.O.T, this entails a full active and passive assessment of the spine, and peripheral joints as well as a postural assessment.
Is Treatment Included?
Yes – as required! Our test and treat process allows our clinicians to test each joint for mobility, quality of movement and range of movement. If any dysfunction is present, it will be explained, and, where possible, treatment delivered at the same time.
What sort of treamtments can I explect?

Whatever is necessary! Treatments can include; soft tissue work, joint articulation, spinal manipulation, joint manipulation, medical acupuncture, dry cupping, kinesiology taping or any other therapy techniques our Body Mechnics have in their toolbox

“Proactive healthcare is the ultimate personal investment. By prioritising prevention and self-care, we don’t just add years to our life, we add life to our years.”

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A BODY MECHANIC M.O.T

Your full Biomechanical Check-up at our clinic is an in-depth, non-invasive process that takes around 30-45 minutes. Here’s what to expect:
Consultation
If it’s your first visit to us, your session begins with a thorough discussion about your medical history, lifestyle, and any current symptoms or concerns. This is a great opportunity for you to ask any questions you might have about the process.

If you are an existing patient, then we will review and update your records to ensure the latest information is recorded.

Physical Assessment
Our osteopath will observe your posture, movement patterns, and overall physical function. This might involve specific tasks like walking, bending, or lifting, and can also include simple tests for flexibility, strength, and balance.
Test & Treat
Starting with a foot examination, we assess joint flexibility and alignment, identifying issues like flat feet or overpronation. Moving upwards, we examine ankles, knees, and hips for any imbalances or reduced mobility. Your spine, particularly the lumbar region, is evaluated next for curvature and flexibility.

Further up, we assess the thoracic and cervical spine, shoulders, elbows, and wrists, ensuring free movement and correct alignment. Lastly, we examine the jaw and temporal joints.

After pinpointing areas of concern, we employ osteopathic techniques such as mobilization, stretching, and soft tissue massage.

This holistic, head-to-toe approach enhances overall movement and alleviates discomfort, promoting optimal health.

Follow-up Plan

If necessary, we will create a tailor-made follow-up plan. This could include osteopathic treatment, exercises to do at home, or referrals to other healthcare professionals or services such as massage or Shockwave Therapy (where appropriate).
